Shocking Revelation! Couple Admits to Selling Marijuana and THC Candies From Home-based Business

A New Jersey couple admitted in court Wednesday to running an unlicensed enterprise from their Somers Point home, selling marijuana and THC candies.

Police accused Donna Shiffler and John Garmen after an undercover officer investigating the pair was directly provided marijuana, psilocybin mushrooms, and edible drug goods, according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office. Garmen also told investigators that he planned to use his 14-year-old son in the distribution scheme by having him hand out cards advertising the business to individuals on the Jersey Shore, according to prosecutors.

Shiffler appeared in Atlantic County Superior Court on Tuesday, pleading guilty to possession with intent to distribute marijuana, keeping a production facility, endangering the welfare of a child, and employing a juvenile in a felony.

Prosecutors accepted the plea one month after Garmen admitted to the same allegations. He was additionally charged with second-degree money laundering.

Garmen is expected to be sentenced to ten years in prison, while Shiffler will most likely receive five years. Garmen is set to be sentenced in three weeks. Shiffler is scheduled for sentencing in July.

When investigators investigated Garmen’s residence, they found 65 pounds of marijuana, 32 pounds of tetrahydrocannabinol gummy candies, and $119,526 in cash. Inside, there was also a pound and a half of Psilocybin mushrooms, ten pounds of THC cartridges, and another half-pound of THC-infused chocolates.

Both local authorities and investigators from the United States Drug Enforcement Agency investigated the case. Investigators worked on the case for a month last year, with the undercover agent routinely meeting Garmen at the Ocean Heights Shopping Plaza in Somers Point to buy his items. An inquiry began last March after officials discovered Garmen’s operation, which was advertised on social media as “Garmen’s Goods.”
