Young Readers Team Up with Rescue Dogs to Foster Literacy and Adoption Awareness

A nearby primary school is providing aid to some extremely fortunate canines. To help promote ‘Adopt a Shelter Pet Day’ on Tuesday, April 30th, students at Gene Ward Elementary School spent some time on Tuesday morning reading to rescue dogs from the Nevada SPCA.
Events such as these, according to the organizers, teach children about pet care, foster literacy, and increase awareness of the value of adopting animals from shelters—all while enhancing their self-esteem and public speaking abilities.
On Friday, April 19, the shelter will also host a pop-up clinic where free dog and cat microchips and vaccinations will be given out.
