Man Convicted for Injuring Kentucky State Police Trooper in 2022 Shooting
CYNTHIANA, KY (FOX 56) — In the shooting death of a Kentucky State Police officer in 2022, a guy has been found guilty.
LeeQuan Taylor was convicted by a jury of assault, possession of a controlled substance, criminal attempt to commit first-degree manslaughter, and eluding and escaping the police. On May 7, he is expected to get his punishment.
Taylor was stopped by Trooper Michael “Mike” Sanguigni on January 28, 2022, when he was on patrol in Cynthia. Taylor’s driver’s license was suspended. Next, Taylor fired a shot at Sanguigni close to Delta Court.

According to the Kentucky State Police, Sanguigni was shot six times, three of which were halted by his bulletproof vest. The other shots struck his radio, taser, and a portion of his body.

Sanguigni was escorted by a Fishing and Wildlife officer to Harrison Memorial Hospital, and then he was transferred to the Albert B. Chandler Hospital at the University of Kentucky.
After escaping potentially fatal circumstances, Sanguigni was eventually admitted into the DuPont Kevlar Survivors’ Club of the International Association of Chiefs of Police.
